The cabin was designed with all sorts of repurposed items such as cross cut saws, a rub board, milk can, and even an old door turned into a headboard! Our favorite piece is a cedar chest salvaged from the flood of over a year ago that we picked up at a garage sale and sanded and refinished. It is beautiful! Throughout the years it has been used to house our cows, sheep, horses, and one try at raising chickens. The chickens were penned in the area that is now the bath. What is now the snack kitchen was once used as a smoke-house. In those days, there were no wooden floors in these sections or in the dog-run down the middle of the crib-barn. When we noticed that some of the logs were rotting and needed to be replaced, we found a man that knew how to jack up a log structure... and the renovation began. He hauled it to The Farm, and milled the downed trees into the lumber that built this cabin. After being furnished with antiques, collectibles, deer hides and antlers, the cabin on Deer Run was ready for guests in September of 2009.
